Fees and Billing

The Law Office of James E. Pittman bills most immigration matters, including all permanent residency cases, labor certification, and visa petition cases on a flat fee basis. For family or employment based cases which are done in stages, part of the fee will be due when signing the attorney-client agreement and the remainder will be due in one or more installments as the case progresses.

Removal proceedings, including asylum cases or removal cases based on past criminal charges, are billed on an hourly basis.  The reason why hourly billing is used instead of a flat fee in these cases is  that the time and effort as well as office expenses required for such cases can depends in large part on government agency action, which can be unpredictable.

A combination of flat fee and hourly billing is used at this office for corporate immigration work which is of a recurring nature.

The initial consultation fee at the Law Office is $100. However, if we agree on the day of the consultation to begin the case, the initial consultation fee will be applied toward the first installment of the attorney’s fee for the case.
